Programmable Voice Alerts
The DX9 lets you keep tabs on important functions without ever taking your eyes off what you're flying. You can program voice alerts to call out what flight mode you've chosen or report telemetry information on demand. If an alarm goes off, you won't have to look at the transmitter display to see what's happening. The DX9 will tell you.
Wireless Trainer Link
This exclusive Spektrum technology gives DX9 users the ability to wirelessly link up with other Spektrum transmitters and specially-equipped Spektrum FPV headsets. Once bound to another transmitter or component, ModelMatch™ technology will allow the DX9 to re-link without having to go through the bind process again.
With Wireless Trainer Link, you could:
Wirelessly "buddy box" with another DSM2®/DSMX® transmitter when teaching someone to fly.
Assign gimbal functions to a 2nd 'camera' transmitter when flying a camera drone so you can focus on avoiding obstacles and maintaining visual contact while someone else lines up the shot.

The enormous capacity of the DX9's on-board memory means you will rarely, if ever, need to juggle models between transmitter memory and your SD card**. The model memory menu is easy to navigate too. Only memory slots with model settings saved to them will appear. You won't have to scroll through empty slots or move models around if one is deleted.
Because the DX9 uses the same Spektrum™ AirWare™ software as many other Spektrum transmitters, you can share model setups across platforms with almost any Spektrum pilot.
Fly Smarter with Built-In Telemetry
The built-in telemetry feature gives you real-time information on things like your model's battery voltage, signal quality, engine or motor temperature, airspeed, altitude and more.*
Using the voice alert system, you can program the DX9 to tell you when specific telemetry values reach or exceed limits you define. You can also have it call out a sequence of telemetry values on demand with the flip of a switch. If you want to review telemetry after a flight, the DX9 can be set up to record the data to its SD card**.

DSM or Digital Spectrum Modulation is Spektrum's proprietary method of implementing 2.4GHz spread spectrum technology for the R/C industry. DSM divides the 2.4GHz band into 80 individual channels (frequencies) and incorporates direct sequence spread spectrum with an embedded GUID (Globally Unique Identifier) code. DSM has been painstakingly optimized by our engineers for RC surface and aircraft use, offering the most robust RF link in the industry.
DSM2 is the 2nd generation of Spektrum DSM technology and remains a premier 2.4GHz choice even today. Using the same superior wideband DSSS foundation that all Spektrum technology is based on, DSM2 consistently provides faster response and more precision than most non-DSM 2.4GHz protocols.
DSMX is a natural evolution of DSM2 technology that is the result of several years of development, optimized for pilots and combining Wideband DSSS and Frequency Agility. It builds on what has come before and takes DSM to the next level of robustness, reliability and efficiency without leaving current DSM2 users behind. DSMX represents the world's first wideband, frequency-agile 2.4GHz signal protocol and the most advanced spread spectrum RC technology to date.
The foundation DSMX is built on is the same foundation as DSM2™ - the superior on-channel interference resistance and coding gain of wideband DSSS. Compared to the wideband signal of a DSM2 or DSMX™ system, the narrow-band signal of other 2.4 transmitters is more likely to suffer crucial data loss in the event of on-channel interference. Think of wideband 2.4 as a river and narrow-band 2.4 as a stream. It takes much more interference to stop a river than it does to stop a stream.
The big reason wideband is so robust is coding gain. Essentially what this means is that the unique coding in a DSM2 or DSMX wideband signal allows it to be heard well above the noise of surrounding 2.4GHz signals without requiring any more power. In fact, a Spektrum wideband signal can achieve as much as 3X the range of its narrow-band competition using the same amount of power.
For the most part, yes. DSM2 transmitters are forward compatible with DSMX receivers and DSMX transmitters are backward compatible with DSM2 receivers. And because DSM2 and DSMX share the same wideband DSSS foundation, all Spektrum users will enjoy superior range, speed and precision whether they're using DSM2 equipment, DSMX equipment or a combination of both. The only exception is the DXe which is DSMX-only and not compatible with DSM2 receivers.
Yes, but DSM2 users who rarely, if ever, fly in big events or other "noisy" 2.4GHz environments may find the DSM2 equipment they have now is all they will ever need. The difference DSMX makes is only apparent when hundreds of 2.4GHz systems are in use at once. A resequencing of the data a Spektrum transmitter transmits based on the type of mixing you select. This feature helps to sync control services that are connected (such as a swash plate on a helicopter) and is used in radios that have many channels.
The Spektrum™ X-Plus™ 8 module lets you add 8 fully proportional channels to specially equipped Spektrum transmitters and receivers with 10 or more proportional channels. Just plug it into the X-Plus port of a compatible receiver. It is ideal for scale modelers who like to push realism to the extreme with working accessories and lights in addition to the regular control functions. The DX10t and DX18 offer X-Plus.
You should have no problem maintaining control as long as you maintain direct line-of-sight with your model. If you try to fly behind a group of trees or otherwise obstruct your direct line-of-sight, you could be susceptible to losing your control link.

The length of the antenna is on a Spektrum receiver is set and tuned to optimize the range and performance of the receiver. We do not recommend altering the length of the antenna on any Spektrum Receiver.
