The Spektrum™ iX12 radio is an intelligent 12-channel transmitter matched with a powerful combination of features and next-level connectivity. Groundbreaking yet comfortably familiar, RC pilots of all aircraft types can use the iX12 to out fly everything in its class.
Literally "tap" into the iX12's programming. Its 4-inch, full-color, easy-to-read monitor delivers crisp, clear detail that includes state-of-the-art touchscreen technology so that navigation is simple. And, because the interface is a fully functional Android system with a dedicated quad-core processor, it will work with an evolving list of apps from the Google Play store.
When connected to Wi-Fi, the iX12 gets even smarter. Spektrum AirWare™ Touch app update-alerts are automatic, plus you can download model setups and add third-party apps. Listen to music on Spotify or Pandora directly from your radio or even update your Facebook status just before you fly.
The iX12 can connect with just about any Bluetooth device. Use wireless earbuds to hear voice alerts privately, or pair a set of speakers and listen to music. A wide range of other devises uses are possible including file sharing, photo sharing and more.
Hook up to your flight-control board and use their apps to adjust settings directly from the iX12—no laptop required. The integrated micro USB port conveniently allows you to charge its internal Li-Ion battery with a common Micro USB cable and power source. Other accessory devices can be recognized too, including your PC or laptop
Long-time Spektrum users will feel right at home the first time they pick up the iX12. That’s because it’s Spektrum AirWare™ Touch app is derived from the familiar Spektrum AirWare firmware used today. The big, color touchscreen features an Android interface that simply makes menu navigation and model setup even easier than before.
Go further with the iX12 when you explore what the integrated auxiliary serial port has to offer. It’s a next-level link that lets you accessorize the iX12 transmitter with a compatible long range RF system (adapter, SPMA3090 required) such as Team Black Sheep Crossfire protocol technology (sold separately) that gives you low latency performance and secondary frequency convenience.
Keep tabs on important information without ever taking your eyes off what you are flying. The iX12 programmable voice alert system can call out what flight mode you have chosen or report telemetry info on demand. If an alarm goes off, you won't have to look at the display to see what's happening. The iX12 can tell you.
Text-to-speech means that you can create any voice alert by just typing in the words, it can even take *.WAV files so you can have virtually any sound imaginable. In addition to a built-in speaker, the iX12 has a headphone jack that allows you to monitor voice alerts, and/or listen to your favorite song during flight, using earbuds so you don't bother other pilots. You can also use its Bluetooth support to connect with wireless earbuds or your phone.

With the AR9030T, no sensor is required to receive flight log or receiver pack voltage telemetry data. The AR9030T is a feature-packed, 9-channel receiver with integrated full-range telemetry. It includes built-in telemetry connection ports for RPM, Flight Pack Voltage, and Temperature sensors as well as an X-Bus port for additional telemetry options. The 11ms frame rate capable iX12 allows the AR9030T to deliver lightning-fast input-to-output response that is perfect for high-performance aircraft like 3D helis and airplanes. DSM or Digital Spectrum Modulation is Spektrum's proprietary method of implementing 2.4GHz spread spectrum technology for the R/C industry. DSM divides the 2.4GHz band into 80 individual channels (frequencies) and incorporates direct sequence spread spectrum with an embedded GUID (Globally Unique Identifier) code. DSM has been painstakingly optimized by our engineers for RC surface and aircraft use, offering the most robust RF link in the industry.
DSM2 is the 2nd generation of Spektrum DSM technology and remains a premier 2.4GHz choice even today. Using the same superior wideband DSSS foundation that all Spektrum technology is based on, DSM2 consistently provides faster response and more precision than most non-DSM 2.4GHz protocols.
DSMX is a natural evolution of DSM2 technology that is the result of several years of development, optimized for pilots and combining Wideband DSSS and Frequency Agility. It builds on what has come before and takes DSM to the next level of robustness, reliability and efficiency without leaving current DSM2 users behind. DSMX represents the world's first wideband, frequency-agile 2.4GHz signal protocol and the most advanced spread spectrum RC technology to date.
These systems usually transmit a narrow band signal and rapidly jump through a fixed set of frequencies, spending a few milliseconds on each frequency.
The foundation DSMX is built on is the same foundation as DSM2™ - the superior on-channel interference resistance and coding gain of wideband DSSS. Compared to the wideband signal of a DSM2 or DSMX™ system, the narrow-band signal of other 2.4 transmitters is more likely to suffer crucial data loss in the event of on-channel interference. Think of wideband 2.4 as a river and narrow-band 2.4 as a stream. It takes much more interference to stop a river than it does to stop a stream.
The big reason wideband is so robust is coding gain. Essentially what this means is that the unique coding in a DSM2 or DSMX wideband signal allows it to be heard well above the noise of surrounding 2.4GHz signals without requiring any more power. In fact, a Spektrum wideband signal can achieve as much as 3X the range of its narrow-band competition using the same amount of power.
For the most part, yes. DSM2 transmitters are forward compatible with DSMX receivers and DSMX transmitters are backward compatible with DSM2 receivers. And because DSM2 and DSMX share the same wideband DSSS foundation, all Spektrum users will enjoy superior range, speed and precision whether they're using DSM2 equipment, DSMX equipment or a combination of both. The only exception is the DXe which is DSMX-only and not compatible with DSM2 receivers.
Yes, but DSM2 users who rarely, if ever, fly in big events or other "noisy" 2.4GHz environments may find the DSM2 equipment they have now is all they will ever need. The difference DSMX makes is only apparent when hundreds of 2.4GHz systems are in use at once. A safety feature that prevents a pilot from flying a model when the model selected in the radio is not correct.
A resequencing of the data a Spektrum transmitter transmits based on the type of mixing you select. This feature helps to sync control services that are connected (such as a swash plate on a helicopter) and is used in radios that have many channels.
The Spektrum™ X-Plus™ 8 module lets you add 8 fully proportional channels to specially equipped Spektrum transmitters and receivers with 10 or more proportional channels. Just plug it into the X-Plus port of a compatible receiver. It is ideal for scale modelers who like to push realism to the extreme with working accessories and lights in addition to the regular control functions. The DX10t and DX18 offer X-Plus.
You should have no problem maintaining control as long as you maintain direct line-of-sight with your model. If you try to fly behind a group of trees or otherwise obstruct your direct line-of-sight, you could be susceptible to losing your control link.

The length of the antenna is on a Spektrum receiver is set and tuned to optimize the range and performance of the receiver. We do not recommend altering the length of the antenna on any Spektrum Receiver.
