Upgrade Your Vehicle to Spektrum DSMR Technology
Posted: 1/23/21
If you plan on using one transmitter for multiple RC vehicles, DSMR is the system you'll want. DSRM is the protocol of the transmitter talking to the receiver. The DSM in DSMR stands for Digital Spectrum Modulation and is what creates pure digital control providing an impenetrable radio link immune to all types of interference.âŻThe R in DSMR is the Spektrum Surface "Racing" protocol.âŻSpektrumâs DSM system eliminates radio interference, including model-generated noise from motors, ESCs, bad bearings, etc., and outside sources like cell phones, wireless computer systems, and other RC radio systems. Spektrum DSMR technology is exclusive 2.4GHz radio control technology that can be used with any land-based RC vehicle or boat.
Changing to a high-end Spektrum radio/receiver combination opens up a plethora of options including features like model memory, quicker frame rate, telemetry, AVC, and much more!
In this Horizon Insider DSMR video, we cover how to:
- Install a DSMR receiver
- Bind your receiver to a transmitter
- Setup your model in the radio
- Provide tips on testing your new radio system
By adding the agility of unique frequency shifts to the superior interference resistance of a wideband signal and limiting those shifts to a smaller portion of the 2.4GHz band, DSMR transmitters provide on-channel interference protection that is simply second to none. The result is quicker reconnection times and superb response in the noisiest 2.4GHz environments.
Next, we're going to show you AVC binding and calibration. With AVC (Active Vehicle Control), you can dial in extra stability as needed to carve corners or nail jumps without backing off the power. Using steering and throttle management features, this system allows you to push the limits and realize your vehicle's true potential. Rough terrain, slick surfaces, loose dirtâyou have full-throttle freedom whatever the road throws at you. When appropriately tuned, AVC provides drivers with more control. It reads your control inputs, senses your car's trajectory, and makes as many as 180 steering and power adjustments per second so you can hold the line without holding back. It doesnât drive for you; it brings that âlocked-inâ feeling. From on-road straightaways to off-road berms, you are in complete control. Unlike Ready-to-Run vehicles with AVC, if you're adding Spektrum AVC to a non-RTR RC vehicle, you'll need to learn how to bind and calibrate it.
In this Horizon Insider AVC video, we cover how to:
- Installation tips for Spektrum AVC receivers, specifically orientation.
- Binding your AVC capable Spektrum transmitter to an AVC receiver.
- Actual calibration of the AVC system.
- AVC gain settings... what it means.
- Tips on using the "On The Fly" feature of your radio!
