MKCX 9511 wasnât photographed too much during its existence, but the unit was built as EL 3656 before becoming CR 6687 and later VMV 6687. Morrison-Knudsen then acquired the unit and gave it a coat of their standard dark blue paint, albeit with white stripes instead of the more common gold- this uncommon variation was also applied to a few MKCX SD45s. Interestingly, the unit didnât acquire ditch lights, or lose its class lights, while under MKCX ownership.
