Based on the legendary Habu — one of the best first and high-performance EDF (Electric Ducted Fan) sport jet platforms EVER designed — the E-flite® Habu SS (Super Sport) 70mm EDF is a more powerful and more capable version of the popular Habu STS (Smart Trainer with SAFE)! It's a simple, no hassles, easy, and extremely fun to fly high-performance sport jet that's a perfect first-ever EDF for RC pilots with limited experience — while also being one of the best-ever everyday sport jets for experienced pilots. The Habu SS offers the same incredible low-speed handling and performance as the STS, but features updates and upgrades for more aerobatic capability, higher speeds, and nearly unlimited vertical performance. The specially tuned motor and 70mm 10-blade fan are compatible with 4S to 6S batteries without the need for modifications or upgrades. This factory-installed power system delivers plenty of speed and thrust with popular 4S 3200mAh batteries, added power with 5S batteries, or nearly unlimited vertical performance and speeds up to 100 MPH in a dive with 6S 4000mAh batteries! With Smart and non-Smart batteries, the exclusive 70-amp Spektrum™ Avian™ Smart Lite ESC can provide a variety of real-time power system telemetry data including motor RPM, current, overall battery voltage and more via compatible receivers (such as the AR631 included with the BNF® Basic version) and Spektrum AirWare™ equipped transmitters. Factory-finished in a trim scheme with higher-visibility colors, the airframe is composite-reinforced and strengthened to handle the added speed and aerobatic capabilities right out of the box. The optional-use fixed landing gear is outfitted with smaller diameter wheels and tires for sleeker looks and less drag. The wide-stance gear plus steerable nosewheel makes it easy to taxi, takeoff, and land on paved, dirt, and shorter grass surfaces — or you can install the oversized wheels and tires from the Habu STS to fly from thicker grass and other rough surfaces. You can also remove the landing gear for more speed and vertical performance with easy hand launches over and belly landings on grass. Bind-N-Fly Completion Level Advantage
Already own a Spektrum™ transmitter? Bind-N-Fly (BNF) aircraft make getting into the air quickly and with the best control experience possible easier than ever. They come out of the box with the power system, servos and a Spektrum 2.4GHz receiver installed so all you need to do is bind the receiver to a compatible transmitter, finish any final assembly, and fly!
This Bind-N-Fly Basic model is equipped with a Spektrum 2.4GHz DSMX® receiver featuring AS3X (Artificial Stabilization–3-aXis) technology that works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence. The result is a heightened sense of stability and precision that makes you feel like you're flying a much larger, expertly tuned aircraft.
If this is your first model of its type, or you want an extra margin of safety while familiarizing yourself with the airplane, you can enable the optional-use SAFE® Select flight envelope protection technology built into the receiver. No programming is required. Simply change up the binding sequence as directed in the manual.
With SAFE Select enabled, you get:
Pitch and Bank Angle Limits
- These envelope limits keep the airplane from rolling or pitching upside down. They also prevent excessive climb or dive angles.
Automatic Self-Leveling
- The airplane instantly returns to and holds level flight when the sticks are released and in the center position. It's also helpful for keeping the wings level during takeoffs/launches and landings.
Easy Switch Assignment—No Complex Programming Required
- The simple procedure for assigning a transmitter switch to turn SAFE Select features on and off doesn't require any complex programming and takes just a few seconds.
If you don't want to enable the SAFE Select features, just bind the receiver normally and it will function like a standard AS3X receiver.

Capable Gear
The wide-stance tricycle landing gear with a steerable nose wheel offers great ground handling for easier takeoffs and landings on a wide variety of surfaces from paved runways to grass and even dirt. The lower profile wheels/tires offer a sleeker look and less drag, or you can install the optional oversized tires (sold separately) for operation from an even wider variety of surfaces including thick grass. Or, you can leave the landing gear off for more speed and vertical performance plus easy hand launches over and landings on grass.
Easy Assembly

Yes, your DXS transmitter will work well. Though please note that the Habu SS 70mm does not have SAFE, only SAFE Select.
SAFE Select is an optional function (similar to Beginner mode), with wing leveling and angle limits.
Yes, absolutely. The Habu STS gear will fit and is a great option for grass fields.
The Landing Assist Sensor is not compatible with the Habu SS 70mm.

It's certainly possible to separate the aileron servos ,and program flaperons. However this would harm the performance more than help, as both ailerons traveling down would create wash in and cause the tips to stall prematurely. The Habu SS in stock configuration already flies extremely slowly and stably without the need for flaps.
SAFE is often easy to see, as the surfaces will hold a deflection trying to bring the plane back to a level orientation. AS3X is much less obvious as it uses very subtle movements on the surfaces to add stability in the air. If you gently rest your finger on a surface while jostling the plane, you may be able to feel it. AS3X is always on with the stock receiver unless is has been programmed by the user and turned off.
