Eflite 320H Heli motor
Review by Scoot on 22 Apr 2017review stating Eflite 320H Heli motor
Like most of the reviews I have read, I must agree that this motor has taken the fun and reliability from the Blade 300CFX. I am a gentle sport flyer, no 3D, and have been through several motors with only about 100 flights. Some bearings have started screeching as soon as five or six flights. I have re-bearinged a few of these motors a couple of times, but the motor shaft seems slightly small for the inner bearing race, causing the shaft to spin inside of, and heat up the bearing/motor to cause shutdown in flight. Happened more than a few times. Weather is not hot here and forensics of the failed / failing 320H motors always show shaft wear or heat damage (bluing) from too loose bearing/shaft fitment. Carefully red thread locking the pinion bearing inner race to the motor shaft has probably helped to prolong the failures, but a better quality motor/bearing should have been implemented long ago. Haven't tried an aftermarket motor yet, but seriously thinking of changing over from stock. May try another bearing manufacturer and retro fit another 320H next, just because I do like to improve things to make them more reliable or efficient . Helicopter flies nice when it works, but always wondering when it will shut down with no warning. Maybe 24 flights since last motor failure, longest duration before failure so far (after bearing was loctited to motor shaft). Not acceptable !
