You don't need anything to get your Super Cub airborne. Just charge the included battery pack while attaching the wing, vertical tail stab and landing gear, and load the AA batteries into the transmitter. Before you know it, you'll be ready to go.

HobbyZone’s Innovative Anti-Crash Technology The latest breakthrough in RC flight, Anti-Crash Technology (ACT) makes teaching yourself to fly easier and safer than ever before. With ACT, anyone can fly. Here’s how it works: Two sensors on the Super Cub, one on the top and one on the bottom of the fuselage, monitor the position of the plane in relation to the ground. When the plane is flying level, the top sensor sees the sky, while the bottom sees the ground, and they tell the onboard computer that the plane is flying correctly. If the plane enters a dive and the sensors detect that the plane’s orientation is incorrect, the system will automatically correct the control inputs and help prevent the plane from crashing, allowing you time to regain control. ACT lets you fly without worry. And once you’ve gained experience with your Super Cub, you can turn ACT off for more complete control and increased maneuverability.
HobbyZone planes have many features that help new pilots teach themselves to fly, which is why new pilots are most successful when they start with HobbyZone. All HobbyZone Zone 1 planes feature:

Thanks to the incorporation of pitch into the control mix, ACT can actually recover more quickly with 3 channels than it can with a 2-channel radio system. This allows new pilots to have more control, but still benefit from the safety of having ACT working to keep them from going into a spiral dive that could lead to a crash. ACT does this by working in tandem with the 3rd channel (pitch) to reduce throttle and apply up elevator.
Unlike any other plane in the HobbyZone line, the design of the Super Cub is unique. First of all, it is the first scale-looking plane in the HobbyZone line. Additionally, many new pilots want to start with a realistic-looking plane, so HobbyZone has created a plane that's the best of both worlds--good looks and ACT technology to help new pilots be successful. The larger wingspan helps the plane fly in a more stable manner, and makes the plane easy to see in the sky.
The Super Cub has a lot of physical features that make it a great plane for new pilots. It is made of Z-Foam, which is a resilient, lightweight foam that is repairable using normal CA. It helps the plane fly very true out of the box. Additionally, the Super Cub has larger control surfaces, which increase responsiveness, and it has black stripes on the bottom of the wing that help pilots keep orientation of the plane when it is in the sky. The plane also has a conventional tail design that is a first for HobbyZone. The last feature that makes the Super Cub great for new pilots is a gear-reduced motor. This gives the plane ample power for flight yet allows for longer flight times.
Pushrods are more durable and allow for more precise manipulation of the control surfaces.
The Super Cub has a radio frequency range of 2500 feet. That's equivalent to almost half a mile, so he or she will likely lose sight of the plane before control of it would be lost.
Smart-Trak uses time-based calculations to precisely adjust control surface travel so pilots can enjoy responsiveness without over-control. When the pilot flies a plane with Smart-Trak on at high throttle, Smart-Trak reduces control surface travel if it calculates the pilot is in danger of over-controlling the plane, which could cause it to enter a spiral dive. When the throttle is reduced, Smart-Trak increases control surface travel so pilots can enjoy superb responsiveness at slower speeds too. To recap on the detailed description of Anti-Crash Technology explained above, the optical sensors can "see" what is going on as it's happening. Therefore, ACT is a better product because it is acting in real-time to the plane's position, and Smart-Trak technology is reactionary because it is reacting to the pilot's input via the transmitter.
Both work toward avoiding a dive that could lead to a crash, but ACT is more active in achieving the goal of crash-avoidance.
Because the control surfaces are larger and have more travel, new pilots get more response from their Super Cub than they can with other HobbyZone Zone 1 planes.
Like all park flyer airplanes, the Super Cub should be flown in a large, open area that is free of trees, telephone poles, light poles, power lines, buildings, cars, and people, such as a large park or soccer fields. Additionally, it should be flown upwind, with the sun behind the pilot. This plane can be flown at an AMA-sanctioned RC flying field, but it doesn't have to be because of its size and speed. Just be sure to instruct pilots to keep it away from people and objects, and to make sure that they fly on channels that are not being used by other pilots.
What this Warranty Covers Horizon Hobby, Inc., (Horizon) warrants to the original purchaser that the product purchased (the "Product") will be free from defects in materials and workmanship at the date of purchase.
What is Not Covered This warranty is not transferable and does not cover (i) cosmetic damage, (ii) damage due to acts of God, accident, misuse, abuse, negligence, commercial use, or due to improper use, installation, operation or maintenance, (iii) modification of or to any part of the Product, (iv) attempted service by anyone other than a Horizon Hobby authorized service center, or (v) Products not purchased from an authorized Horizon dealer. Once assembly, setup or use of the Product has been started, you must contact your local distributor or Horizon directly. Pack the Product securely using a shipping carton. Please note that original boxes may be included, but are not designed to withstand the rigors of shipping without additional protection. Ship via a carrier that provides tracking and insurance for lost or damaged parcels, as Horizon is not responsible for merchandise until it arrives and is accepted at our facility.
