It has come to our attention that some users are not aware that when using the GT2/GX2 electronic ignition that it fires the spark plugs for 1 second to clear any unwanted oil or drainage from the spark plug prior to starting the engine. If the engine is in the compression position (i.e. the piston is above the exhaust port in either the up or down part of the stroke) any compressed fumes may ignite causing the propeller to turn and possibly the engine to start un-intentionally.
To prevent this with the Evolution Gasoline GX2, GT2 Ignition System the Ignition Power Switch must be turned off, check to see that the piston is in the bottom dead center (BDC) position. (Bottom Dead Center can be found by rotating the propeller through the compression stroke. As you rotate the propeller you will feel it tighten, then suddenly loosen. Once the turn becomes very easy you have completed the compression stroke and are at Bottom Dead Center.)
Once you are sure the piston is in this position you may then turn on the ignition power switch and operate the system safely.
As always it is important to use extreme care when near or with engines, fuel and propellers. Please use caution when working with these components.

Recent tests have shown that the new Evolution Engines GT2 and GX2 ignition systems require a minimum of 6.4 volts for proper operation. Subsequently, it is necessary to use either a 6-cell, 7.2-volt Ni-Cd/Ni-MH battery or a 2-cell, 7.4-volt Li-Po (lithium-polymer) battery as the power source for these ignitions. Capacity ratings of 1200mAh are sufficient for a day's flying time.
When the battery voltage drops below 6.4 volts, the ignition will not allow the engine to restart. This battery requirement applies to 26GT2, 45GX2 and 58GX2 engines having the new ignition and has now been incorporated into the instruction manuals for these engines.
It has come to our attention that the muffler bolts provided with the Evolution® inverted wraparound mufflers for the EVOE45GX2 and EVOE58GX2, were not quite the correct size. This can result in the muffler coming loose in flight.
The part numbers for the effected mufflers are: EVO30043400 (fits 45GX/2) and EVO30013400 (fits 58GX/2).

We regret any inconvenience this may have caused.

With its lightweight magnesium crankcase and advanced porting, the 45GX2 offers the highest power-to-weight ratio in the Evolution® Gas lineup. Aimed directly at the very popular 50cc class of models, the Evolution 45GX2 will provide that vertical thrust you crave for 25% to 30% scale aerobatic planes like Hangar 9’s 27% Extra 260 ARF.
The 45GX2 comes equipped with Evolution’s new GX2 Ignition System. The GX2 system can be powered by most any 2-cell Li-Po pack without the need of a regulator. It also features a sophisticated auto-choke function, timing that can be programmed for mufflers or tuned pipes, and an optional, remotely-mounted LED tach.
What is shown in the photograph are the 45mm length stand-offs. This gives a perfect spinner position but does require some slight relief of the firewall to clear the carb. The 50mm spacers cause the carb to completely clear the firewall but it will space the spinner out about an extra 5 mm.
