40 Size Float

I have purchased one set and four replacement floats, and two replacement mounts.
Negatives are: they break at the bottom seems way to easy, the covering comes off to easy and the wire mount they connect to breaks at the weld to easily.
Positives: they are lighter than fiberglass, they look than foam floats and they handle well in the water.
I am trying to find a better replacement. I may just have to peel off the monocote, cover the balsa and ply with light fiberglass and then paint, but that seems like just to much work to make an ARF float useable.
In fairness, I am using them on a larger than 40 size plane, but within the weight and size of the plane for the size of the float.
