Lithium batteries need a balance connector to plug into this device. Spektrum SMART Generation 1 batteries have a balance connector. You will be able to read cell voltages although you won't be able to program/change any of the functions stored in the battery's control board.
Spektrum Gen 2 SMART batteries do not have balance connector and will not function with this device.
