A true breakthrough in versatility, the 9 channel, 30 model memory, 3 model type XP9303 will adapt to your RC needs at a level that’s absolutely unprecedented. Fact is, while the 9303 is right at home guiding the simplest of sport models, park flyers and gliders, its capacity for more complex assignments – including meeting the demands of a wide variety of competition disciplines – is virtually unlimited. So if you’re still working your way up to the challenges and thrills of large aerobatic models, multi-engine scale planes, 4 wing-servo camber-changing sailplanes, the latest CCPM helicopters or sport-level jets, the XP9303 will be ready when you are.
Even before you explore the XP9303’s virtually limitless programming options, you’ll be sure to notice its incomparable feel – its ultra-smooth sticks, precision switches and levers, innovative Rolling Selector, plus case ergonomics that’ll have it melting in your hands. It’s the unmistakable feel of JR quality, and you’ll experience it every time you remove your 9303 for yet another of the countless flying sessions you’re certain to enjoy with it.
Whether your favorite planes are engine or electric, scale or aerobatic, basic or complex, the XP9303’s airplane software has everything it takes to bring out their best - and everything it takes to make flying them the most enjoyable experience possible. For instance:
- There’s a 3 position flap program whose elevator compensation provision includes a delay feature to smooth its position-to-position transitions.
- Using the 9303 “Wing Type” screen’s channel assignment feature, setting up synchronized dual–servo elevators, rudders, ailerons, flaps – even throttles – is a walk in the park.
- Taking advantage of the radio’s Triple Flight Modes (which are selected by a single, 3-position switch), offers in-flight re-configurations that can really reduce pilot workload. (Imagine what 3 different sets of rates, trims, mixes, etc., can accomplish when they’re activated by the flick of only one switch.) A bit more time to set up? Sure. But pros will agree: It’s time well spent.
- By using creative combinations of the 9303’s multi-function button switch (ordinarily just a “snap roll button”), its multi-point mixes and independently adjustable servo speed feature, inventive modelers will achieve a myriad of unique functions for special control and accessory operations.
- Flyers using the 9303’s gyro system will discover it’s the most versatile ever. It handles multiple gyros, then makes it possible to switch activate them or even tie them into flight modes.
- With the 9303’s throttle curve feature, it’s possible to customize your throttle response just the way you like it. Torque-rolling aerobatic flyers can, for example, flatten throttle response in the hovering range. Scale flyers will create a more linear throttle response. And twin flyers will find this invaluable for synchronizing engines.
Multi-function button switch. Besides working as a timer or snap roll button, it’s assignable to numerous 2-position tasks. Retracts are an example: Touch once for gear up, touch again for gear down.
Dual rate switches may be used as designated. Triple rates are available as components of the 9303’s flight modes, when they’re activated.
Dual side levers offer handy access and flexibility when they're used with a program mix and/or assigned to virtually any function you choose.
The XP9303’s flexible and versatile programming requires phenomenal memory and processing power. Not surprisingly, the 9303 employs an advanced, powerful microprocessor with nearly 6 times the RAM and ROM of previous generation systems.
Largest-in-its-class dot matrix display enhances comprehension and accommodates more information at a higher resolution.
JR’s innovative, exclusive Rolling Selector System is at the heart of the 9303’s programming operation. You’ll roll to scroll, press to select, roll to adjust and press to store. It’s fast and it’s intuitive.
JR’s exclusive 3+1 trim system combines the precision of 3, digital flight-axis trims with an analog throttle trim for immediate visual and tactile reference to idle position.
All heli programs are easily accessed through a single Function Screen. Simply move the cursor over the desired program with the Rolling Selector, press, and you’re in!
Multi-Point Throttle and Pitch Curves give you 7-point adjustments for fine control and fast programming of all critical functions. For the ultimate in simplicity and “no compromise” performance, there’s a separate curve for each Flight Mode.
With the most comprehensive selection of swash mixes to date, the 9303's Swash Type Program offers extraordinary flexibility and clarity. Each mode features a display of your model's servo layout, with corresponding renaming in key programs. It's an invaluable aid in understanding CCPM!
An exclusive Governor Program makes it easy to dial-in specific head speeds for each Flight Mode. Plug governor into 5th channel, move values as needed to adjust head speed for each corresponding mode. It couldn’t be easier!
The 9303 has five available flight modes, plus Hold for autos. In the Device Select screen, you can see all the possible options for switch assignments in the event you choose to activate the 2 additional modes.
With the Programmable Trainer System, the instructor has the option of giving any or all controls to the student., allowing him to get a feel for each control separately or in selected combinations. In this screen, the instructor has elected to give a mode 2 student the left stick controls.
Intuitive logic prevails with the 9303. Here we see the Gyro Program, with three available options, each easily programmed to the corresponding mode.
With 3 Available Rates, values for rates and expo are first assigned to their respective positions for ailerons, elevator and rudder axes. Then -- as shown in the bottom photo -- , the values are programmed for their corresponding Flight Mode positions.
Here’s proof that a single screen can save lots of time and greatly improve performance. The Throttle Mix program helps you maintain constant head speed with any control input.
DSM or Digital Spectrum Modulation is Spektrum's proprietary method of implementing 2.4GHz spread spectrum technology for the R/C industry. DSM divides the 2.4GHz band into 80 individual channels (frequencies) and incorporates direct sequence spread spectrum with an embedded GUID (Globally Unique Identifier) code. DSM has been painstakingly optimized by our engineers for RC surface and aircraft use, offering the most robust RF link in the industry.
DSM2 is the 2nd generation of Spektrum DSM technology and remains a premier 2.4GHz choice even today. Using the same superior wideband DSSS foundation that all Spektrum technology is based on, DSM2 consistently provides faster response and more precision than most non-DSM 2.4GHz protocols.
DSMX is a natural evolution of DSM2 technology that is the result of several years of development, optimized for pilots and combining Wideband DSSS and Frequency Agility. It builds on what has come before and takes DSM to the next level of robustness, reliability and efficiency without leaving current DSM2 users behind. DSMX represents the world's first wideband, frequency-agile 2.4GHz signal protocol and the most advanced spread spectrum RC technology to date.
The foundation DSMX is built on is the same foundation as DSM2™ - the superior on-channel interference resistance and coding gain of wideband DSSS. Compared to the wideband signal of a DSM2 or DSMX™ system, the narrow-band signal of other 2.4 transmitters is more likely to suffer crucial data loss in the event of on-channel interference. Think of wideband 2.4 as a river and narrow-band 2.4 as a stream. It takes much more interference to stop a river than it does to stop a stream.
The big reason wideband is so robust is coding gain. Essentially what this means is that the unique coding in a DSM2 or DSMX wideband signal allows it to be heard well above the noise of surrounding 2.4GHz signals without requiring any more power. In fact, a Spektrum wideband signal can achieve as much as 3X the range of its narrow-band competition using the same amount of power.
For the most part, yes. DSM2 transmitters are forward compatible with DSMX receivers and DSMX transmitters are backward compatible with DSM2 receivers. And because DSM2 and DSMX share the same wideband DSSS foundation, all Spektrum users will enjoy superior range, speed and precision whether they're using DSM2 equipment, DSMX equipment or a combination of both. The only exception is the DXe which is DSMX-only and not compatible with DSM2 receivers.
Yes, but DSM2 users who rarely, if ever, fly in big events or other "noisy" 2.4GHz environments may find the DSM2 equipment they have now is all they will ever need. The difference DSMX makes is only apparent when hundreds of 2.4GHz systems are in use at once. To see if your transmitter is eligible for the DSMX add-on, please visit horizonhobby.com, click on the “radios” tab, and select “DSMX addons” for more details.
A resequencing of the data a Spektrum transmitter transmits based on the type of mixing you select. This feature helps to sync control services that are connected (such as a swash plate on a helicopter) and is used in radios that have many channels.
The Spektrum™ X-Plus™ 8 module lets you add 8 fully proportional channels to specially equipped Spektrum transmitters and receivers with 10 or more proportional channels. Just plug it into the X-Plus port of a compatible receiver. It is ideal for scale modelers who like to push realism to the extreme with working accessories and lights in addition to the regular control functions. The DX10t and DX18 offer X-Plus.
You should have no problem maintaining control as long as you maintain direct line-of-sight with your model. If you try to fly behind a group of trees or otherwise obstruct your direct line-of-sight, you could be susceptible to losing your control link.
