The Funtana X offers lightweight balsa and light plywood construction dressed in genuine UltraCote® covering for a vibrant look. The Funtana X 50 benefits from longer, lighter landing gear that provides plenty of strength for rough landings and allows extra clearance for larger electric propellers. It can also be easily adapted for electric flying using some basic modifications.
Choose the lightest weight, highest power engine you can find, within the engine recommendations. The Saito 72 is a very good choice for this plane.
An APC 14-4 wide blade, part number APC14040W, works very well.
You can use any 4-channel radio system or above.
Standard servos are more than adequate for the plane. But keep in mind that the better servos you use, the better the plane will fly.
Step 13Be sure the supports are adequately glued in so they will not come loose later.
Step 5I placed the SFG's on the wing to make sure that the aileron did not contact the SFG or the wing root at center or when deflected in either direction. Be sure to position the aileron so that it clears both the SFG and the wing root before using thin CA on the hinges.
To install the E-Flite Power 60 motor, you will need to drill and install 4 blind nuts at new locations in the firewall, then use 1 1/4" spacers behind the motor X mount provided with the motor. The centerline of the motor is pre-scribed on the firewall, center the motor on these marks using the X mount provided with the motor. The spacers can be fashioned from 1" diameter dowel cut to length or similar, and drill a hole through the center of the spacer for the bolt to pass through. You will need 4 - 1 3/4" long screws to mount the motor with this method. Note: Other methods to mount the motor can be used, such as commercially available mounts. You will need to adjust the motor mounting set up depending on your particular installation.I cut and installed an 1/8" lite ply tray in the fuel tank area to mount the 2 - Thunder Power 3S 4200 batteries (THP42003S2PPL) wired in series.The 80 amp Castle Creations ESC (CSEPHX80) can be mounted directly below the firewall or to the firewall itself. Be sure cooling air can get to the ESC for proper operation.Cut a hole in the balsa sheeting below the firewall to allow cooling air to enter the fuselage to cool the batteries. Also you will need to cut an air exit hole in the bottom of the fuselage behind the wing. I added a 1/4" balsa stringer to adhere the covering to around the perimeter of the hole in the covering on the bottom of the fuse.

WARRANTY SERVICES Questions, Assistance, and Services Your local hobby store and/or place of purchase cannot provide warranty support or service. Once assembly, setup or use of the Product has been started, you must contact your local distributor or Horizon directly. Ship via a carrier that provides tracking and insurance for lost or damaged parcels, as Horizon is not responsible for merchandise until it arrives and is accepted at our facility.
