Overview

The Xtra Easy 2 is truly easy to fly and very fast to assemble. It comes with everything installed and ready to go. Assembly is as easy as: 1. Slide the wing halves together; seal the joint with the supplied clear tape and snap on one aileron clevis. 2. Bolt on the aluminum landing gear. 3. Attach the fin to the stabilizer with two wing nuts, then bolt the tail assembly onto the fuselage with two bolts and attach the elevator and rudder pushrod clevises. That’s it! Everything else is already professionally done for you. Just charge up the batteries and fly. We believe that a complete R/C newbie can easily assemble the Xtra Easy in less than 1 hour!

The Xtra Easy 2 may well be the ultimate trainer. It’s larger than the average .40-size model. With a large 69” wing span and 793 square inch wing area, it is significantly bigger than average. More wing area equals lower wing loading, which means easy-to-fly slow speed performance that make landings a breeze.

Since it’s larger, every aspect of construction was examined and engineered to assure the Xtra Easy II is strong and durable, yet light weight. Even the two-piece wing is joined with a high strength aluminum-tube method that was borrowed from very large aerobatic airplane competition. Larger also means better visibility. The Xtra Easy 2 is finished in a new high-visibility trim scheme with Hangar 9 Ultra Cote®.

The ultimate trainer deserves the best equipment available, and the included JR XF421EX computer radio and Evolution Trainer Power System both seem a natural fit. All the necessary radio programming for the Xtra Easy is already done at the factory, making it ideal for flight training. With the XF421EX’s easy programming its simple to experiment and customize the trim of the Xtra Easy as you gain experience. JR 537 Ball Bearing servos and the proven JR R600 ABC&W Receiver are both installed.

A successful first flight doesn't start until the engine does. Yet many ready-to-fly trainers that claim to be for beginners come equipped with engines that demand a level of experience most beginners don't have. This is the magic of the extraordinary Evolution Trainer Power System. Every Evolution system's engine is test run and tuned at the factory so a novice can easily get the Alpha flying right out of the box. No break-in period. No tedious trial-and-error with the carburetor settings. Just fuel it up and, with a few flips of the prop, you're flying.

No matter how gentle a ready-to-fly trainer's flight characteristics, learning to manage speed and power is one of the biggest challenges for a beginner. The Evolution system uses a specially designed, three-bladed prop that provides superb climb performance and slower level-flight speeds at high power settings. It's a lot quieter too--nearly 4db quieter than a typical 10 x 6 two-bladed prop. What it all adds up to is a trainer that reduces the beginner's workload by letting him focus more on flying and less on managing the throttle.

Nothing can rattle the nerves when you're learning to fly like losing the engine in-flight because you can't seem to find the right carburetor setting. That's why the Evolution system uses a unique crankshaft flywheel that helps keep the engine running at low throttle settings by preserving crankshaft momentum. The carburetor settings are also limited to prevent relatively new pilots from making tuning mistakes.

After the training is done, bolt on one of the two available fun options and try some new adventures in R/C flying:

Photo OP - Install a readily available inexpensive disposable camera, such as the Kodak® MAX™ or Fuji® QuickSnap™ Outdoor, into the Camera OP system and get a birds-eye view of your flying site. The Xtra Easy fuselage comes with the mounting blind nuts already installed. Just poke through the Ultracote® in the bottom of the fuselage to install the two Photo OP mounting bolts.

Sailplane Launch - Attach to the top of the wing simply by using #64 rubber bands. This option can also be used to get any 2-meter or smaller sailplane into the air — a perfect match for the Hangar 9 Aspire. A great addition to any sport flier’s hangar, it makes sailplanes practical at any powered flying field since it eliminates the need to stretch out a Hi-Start or winch.
