Team Losi driver Matt Francis knows all about control. He first started racing back in 1987 at the age of 12 innorthern California. This was right about the same time California became "ground zero" for the explosion in R/C off-road's popularity. Regularly racing against Team Losi and Associated team drivers, such as J.D. Beckwith, Ron Williams and Rick Vehlow, Matt was able to pick up a thing or two about the importance of control. Since joining Team Losi, he's won numerous off-road titles.
Most recently, these would include the 2000 ROAR National Championship for modified off-road trucks, as well as the 2001 Midwest Winter Championships for 2WD modified buggies. We caught up with Matt in between races, and were able to glean some useful control tips that should help you master the car control challenges of off-road racing as well.
